This group holds regular meetings and has doubled in size, but still has room for a few more members, new or experienced, men or women, to join us and share in our enjoyment of the mental stimulation, the friendly competitiveness and the traditional badinage associated with this grand old game of skill and chance. Whether you are a complete novice, a comparative beginner or even a polished performer wishing to relive past glories, you are invited to join our informal sessions. Partners are provided and we promise to be relatively gentle with newcomers!

The game of cribbage was supposedly the invention in the seventeenth century of Sir John Suckling (1609 - 1642), a notable minor poet - and a spy. Tuition in the 'black art' of cribbage will gladly be extended to anyone wishing to acquaint themselves with this most noble and entertaining of pursuits, traditionally though not exclusively played by old men in pubs! We already boast several female members and could probably cope with one or two more!

You are no doubt already acquainted with the meaning of 'level pegging' and 'peg out', crib expressions which are part of the language. Let us initiate you into the mysteries of 'one for his knob', 'two for his heels', 'nineteen in the box' and 'Morgan's Orchard'!

The Group meets on Wednesdays, morning or afternoon, in members' homes.  Please ring Tony for more details.
