If you haven't looked at this site before, you might be wondering what it's all about. Although U3A stands for University of the Third Age, no qualifications are needed to join and none are given.
It's an excellent means of getting to know people with similar interests and, especially if you are new to the area or live on your own, it's a very easy and safe way to get to know folk.
Wigtownshire U3A was launched in the spring of 2008. We started with fifty people being interested in joining. Now our membership stands at over two hundred.
People get together to share interests and meet sometimes once a month, sometimes more frequently - depending on the subject. For the £15 membership fee you are entitled to go along to all the monthly talks and join as many interest groups as you have time for.
At the moment there are twenty-seven Interest Groups covering a wide range of subjects. You may well have a skill or interest not currently covered by any of our Interest Groups - come and share it with us! The possibilities are endless. Meetings are usually held during the day, so with winter approaching, there is no need to turn out in the dark.
If you're thinking of joining us come along to one of our monthly meetings as a visitor and maybe take a couple of 'taster' sessions of group activities.
The U3A is an ideal way to meet new people with similar interests. You might find that instead of having time on your hands, there aren't enough days in the week.
If there is more you would like to know about Wigtownshire U3A than you can find on this web site, please don’t hesitate to call one of the numbers on our Contacts page.
